I seem to remember that being something you wanted? Hope so - and if so, I'll keep my fingers crossed!

I prefer the term 'severed', but good luck.

Me, I've been severed twice. It can be very rewarding.

does Canada pay unemployment wages?

Yes, but...

Say your severace package was for 5 months. You would not be able to qualify until the 5 months were up.

Of course, your pimp is letting you go. You can't keep giving out free handjobs.

thistle - it's offical. Yaaayyyyy! that's what I wanted and that's what I got.

timmy - canadian severance packages are much better than the us ones. by law canadians have to be given a min of 2 weeks notice for every year we've worked for the company. a company usually ups that to keep the issue out of court. the company can ask you to work that time but the rarely ever do. once those weeks have ended you can then claim employment insurance which is aprox 60% of your previous 12 months wages.

pablo- you're just upset that you had to pay.

moon - it depends on how quick i get a new job

rouge - i'll keep my fingers crossed for you

Well then, congrats I guess. Now you're free to buy drinks with your severence and enter the fast-paced and exciting world of independent consulting.
